How to enable Telnet in Windows 7

Telnet is the lower level program used in Windows for testing whether the port is open or not. Telnet Client is used to connect to remote machine by using the Telnet protocol.

 

By default, Telnet Client is not enabled in Windows 7. To enable it, add the Telnet Client Windows Feature by following the below steps :

 

1.Click on Start, then click on Control Panel

2.Click on Programs And Features

3.Under Programs and Features, click on Turn Windows Features on or off

4.Select the checkbox beside Telnet Client in the Windows Features window, then click on OK

5.The selected feature will be installed.

Once installed, the Windows Features windows will be closed.

6.To confirm that Telnet is installed,  start Telnet via command prompt and type telnet /?
