Troubleshooting RFC Communication error 20

Innowera Connector for SAP SAP_CMINIT3 : rc = 20 > error is due to Process Runner not being able to communicate with the SAP System Server. You have to assure that the appropriate network ports are open and check whether the system which you are accessing is up and running.

Once the Telnet is enabled, perform the following steps:

(By default, Telnet Client is not enabled in Windows 7. Click here to enable Telnet Client on Windows 7.)

 

1.Open SAP logon pad, right-click on the desired SAP instance and select 'Properties'.

      Copy the IP address mentioned in the Application server. Also, consider the system number of the instance.

2.Open the Command prompt in your Windows system.

 

3.Enter Telnet, followed by the IP address of the Application Server and 32XX and 33XX where XX is the system number of SAP instance. See below.

4.If the connection is successful, you will get a blank screen with blinking cursor.

     If you get the connection failed screen, your screen will look like this.

5.Make sure that below mentioned network ports are open, as Process Runner uses these ports to communicate with SAP:

I.If you have ‘Application server’ then port number will begin from ‘32xx’ and ‘33xx’ and ‘last 2 digits in the port number will vary on the basis of SAP instances’.

II.If you have ‘Group Server’ then port number will begin from ‘36xx’ and ‘last 2 digits in the port number will vary on the basis of SAP instances’.

III.If you are using SNC SAP system then port number will begin from ‘48xx’ and ‘last 2 digits in the port number will vary on the basis of SAP instances’.

 

6.If any of the connections fails, kindly communicate with your IT Networking team and ask them to open both the ports.
