Process Runner Excel Add-in fails to load lib-rfc.dll file

Symptom

In Process Runner Excel Add-in version 4.30.12 or later, sometimes, the communication to SAP may fail, and a library-related error message is displayed.

Process Runner Excel Add-in has detected a situation where new SAP login library is found at another location. Innowera Excel Add-in has addressed this issue. However, you must restart application once manually for this change to be effective.

In Process Runner Excel Add-in version 4.30.11 or earlier, sometimes, the communication to SAP may fail, and a library-related error message is displayed.

The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) RFC/GUI files are missing, cannot continue. Do you want to install them and try again.

Cause

The SAP login library file, librfc32.dll, is missing or is not available in the default path.

Solution

Perform the following steps:

  1. If you are using Process Runner Excel Add-in version 4.30.12 or later, select OK or restart the application to automatically fix the issue. The Process Runner Excel Add-in places the required .dll file at C:\ProgramData\Innowera\Common.
  2. If you are using Process Runner Excel Add-in version 4.30.11 or earlier, perform the following steps:
    1. Close all the Excel instances.
    2. Download the librfc32.zip file, and then extract the contents.
    3. Copy the .dll file depending upon the Windows version you use.
      • For operating system 32-bit and Excel version 32-bit, copy the librfc32.dll file to C:\Windows\system32\ folder.
      • For operating system 64-bit and Excel version 64-bit, copy the librfc32.dll file to C:\Windows\system32\ folder.
      • For operating system 64-bit and Excel version 32-bit, copy the librfc32.dll file to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ folder.

    3. Note: Auto-fix functionality is supported only in 4.30.12 and later versions. 

  3. Reopen Process Runner Excel Add-in and connect to your SAP system to verify that the application is working.
